The State News Agency Antara reports that the Regency of Badung in Bali has allocated Rp. 17 billon (US$1.7 million) to improve lighting and upgrade garden accents along the Jalan Bypass leading to Nusa Dua as part of the preparations for the Asia Pacific Economic Summit (APEC) to be held in late 2013.
The Regent of Badung, Anak Agung Gede Agung, said “We have allocated Rp. 17 billion for the 2012 budget.”
The improvements in lighting and gardens will take place from the Simpang Siur intersection to the Nusa Dua Tourism Complex – the venue for the APEC conference.
The 12-kilometer stretch of highway is being festooned with planters on the center road divider and curbsides.
Road lighting powered by solar cells are also being installed along the highway together with improvements in the roads drainage system to prevent flooding during periods of heavy rain.
