More than 1,000 Private Aircraft Charters Visit Bali Each Year
Kompas.com quotes the general manager of PT. Angkasa Pura I, Purwanto, who confirms that Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport handles more than 1,000 charter flights every year, 60% of which originate from overseas.
PT. Angkasa Pura I is the State-owned company that manages Bali Airport.
Purwanto said: “Many (of these flights) come on charter flights due to the lack of an airline offering direct flights from the originating countries of the subject charters.”
Those arriving on charter flights are clearly from the upper economic classes. Many stay a short time in Bali due to prohibitions and limitations against keeping charter flights parked on an extended basis at the Bali Airport.
