Electrical consumption on the Islands of Bali and Java hit a new record-high on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 6:00 pm with the Java-Bali power grid recorded 21,968 megawatts of power consumption.
Seputarbali.com quotes the Senior Manager of corporate power consumption at the State Power Board (PT PLN), Bambang Dwiyanto, who said the new record represents an increase of 731 megawatts or around 3.4% form a record level of consumption recorded on October 15, 2013.
67% of the added power demand was attributed to increased power demands in Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java and Bali.
The remaining 33% of additional power was attributed to electrical demand in West Java, Jakarta and Banten.
The current total carrying capacity of power on the Java-Bali power grid is 24,000 megawatts.
