As part of its participation in the BII Maybank Bali Marathon 2013, Bank International Indonesia has given 486 scholarships to students from 27 schools located along the route of the marathon held in Gianyar on Sunday, June 13, 2013.
The top three students from 23 grade schools, 2 junior high schools and 2 senior high schools along the race route were the happy recipients of the Bank’s beneficence, given to thank the public for their continuing support of the race.
The president director of BII Bank, Dato’ Khairussaleh bin Ramli, said he hoped the scholarships would be put to good use for education, health programs, public welfare and protecting the environment.
The race held from a base at the Bali Safari and Marine Park also provided an opportunity for 40 paraplegic athletes to participate in a special 5 kilometer race held as part of the larger marathon.
The scholarships were presented on June 15, 2013 at the Ketayasa Wantilan in the village of Bona, Blahbatu, Gianyar at a ceremony attended by the Regent of Gianyar.
