At least 8,000 police personnel or two-thirds of the 12,000 police officers assigned to Bali will be put on alert to safeguard the inauguration of Made Mangku Pastika to his second-term as governor of Bali on August 28, 2013. quoted the chief of operations for the Bali Police, Police Commissioner Gede Alit Widana, who confirmed the mass deployment of police to safeguard the Bali House of Representatives (DPRD-Bali) in the Renon Area of Denpasar where the actual swearing in of the governor and deputy-governor will take place.
The governor's office, located a short distance from the DPRD-Bali, will also be guarded together with other key public offices.
Widana also confirmed that intelligence operatives have been deployed in the face of rumors of planned sabotage to derail the inauguration process. Added Widana: “The police with investigate and maximize the work of intelligence. There is no one that can disrupt the inauguration, which represents the will of the government.”
