Bali’s new toll-way built over the waters between Benoa and Nusa Dua, is now equipped with wind-speed and wind-direction detectors.
Beritabali.com confirmed that the wind detectors are in the final phase of being connected to a communications grid to provide continuous updates of wind conditions to a central control center.
A technician told the press that the wind monitors had been installed at the highest points on the toll way.
The roadway’s Traffic Management Control Center will be on guard, raising alerts and taking preventative steps whenever wind speeds in excess of 40 knots an hour are recorded.
At that wind speed, toll way officials may bar access to the road to vehicles – especially motorcycles, at risk in high wind conditions.
For added overall security CCTV cameras are also in operation at various locations along the new toll way. The camera surveillence system will allow quick dispatch of emergency vehicles in event of accidents or vehicle breakdowns.
