More than One Month After an Increase in cost of premium fuel, Bali authorities have finally increased taxi fares for licensed taxi operators across the island.

The increase took effect from Monday, July 29, 2013.

The increase was agreed following a meeting between government transportation authorities and taxi operators.
The chairman of the Bali Taxi Drivers Association, Ketut Witra, expressed his sense of relief that the long awaited for increase is now in effect. Quoted in Bisnis Bali, Witra said: “We have waited a long time, that’s why we pressured the government to quickly implement a taxi rate increase.
The new taxi rates can be introduced any time starting from July 29th although some delays will be experienced while Bali’s hundreds of taxis undergo the process of meter recalibration.
New Rates
The tariff rates have increased between 20-30%.
  • Flag falls have increased from Rp. 5,000 (US$0.50) to Rp. 6,000 (US$0.60).
  • The cost per traveled kilometer has increased from Rp. 4,500 (US$0.45) to Rp. 5,700 (US$0.57) per kilometer.
  • Waiting time has increased from Rp. 30,000 (US$3) to Rp. 40,000 (US$4) per hour.
