Intensive security is expected to be in place surrounding the “low key” inauguration of Bali governor Made Mangku Pastika and deputy-governor Ketut Sudikerta to take place at the Bali House of Representatives on August 29, 2013,

Quoted by Bali Daily (The Jakarta Post), General Arif Wachyunadi, chief of police for Bali, said: “We are ready to secure the inauguration. We will deploy the maximum forces we have to ensure that the inauguration runs smoothly.”

600 invitees are expected to attend the ceremony in the company of 100 members of the press.

Both police and military elements will be on call to ensure a smooth inauguration.

Head of operations for the Bali Police, Senior Commander I Gede Alit Widana, told the press that drills and training to ensure a peaceful ceremony have been undertaken, warning, “. “We will implement tight security to prevent any attempt to disrupt the inauguration.”

The entire inauguration area will be on lock down with admission open only to invitees. Widana added: “Only those invited to the inauguration and civil servants working in those offices would be allowed entry. Police personnel will also be deployed to secure the Renon area to anticipate any potential rallies. We really hope that there will be no mass mobilization during the inauguration,” he stated.

Bali Daily says rumors have sparked security concerns for the inauguration in the extremely close race held on May 15, 2013 finally decided by the Constitutional Court for the position of Bali’s chief executive.
