INILAH.COM reports the religious leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Habib Rizieq Syihab, has accused Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika of changing Bali from the “Island of the Gods” into the “Evil Island,” adding that Pastika should be now be known as the “Governor of Sin."
Syihab’s latest in a series of attacks and condemnations of Bali’s governor came in response to Governor Pastika’s characterizations of the much-publicized FPI fears of the coming Miss World Contest in Bali as "exaggerated."
Pastika insisted that the conduct of the Miss World Contest in Bali would be done with dignity and in accordance with the customs and traditions of Indonesia, with no display of intimate body parts as alleged by FPI.
Syihab accused Bali’s governor of disgracing all the provinces of Indonesia by allowing the Miss World Contest to go ahead on the Island. “He is not aware that that Bali is only one of 34 provinces in the sovereign state of Indonesia, he has disgraced the (remaining) 33 provinces of the Republic of Indonesia." Syihab claimed.
Syihab went on to accuse Pastika of being conceited and arrogant, as though Bali is able to stand independent of the support of Indonesia’s other provinces.
Rizeig warned the Governor: “Remember that Allah - May He be Glorified and Exalted, is not deaf and dumb. Allah - May He be Glorified and Exalted – is the almighty, can exert his wrath on anyone who violates his laws."
