National air carrier Garuda Indonesia will take delivery of 25 ATR 72-600 aircraft, with initial delivery starting the fourth quarter of 2013.
According to Bisnis.com, on September 6, 2013 Garuda signed a sales and purchase contract with Avions De Transport Regional G.I.E and an aircraft lease agreement and lease commitment with Nordic Aviation Capital.
“With the signing of these documents, the Company will add 25 aircraft to its armada with delivery commencing in Q4 2013,” said the Airline’s director of manpower and general affairs, Heriyanto AP.
The ATR 72 is a twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional aircraft built by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR. The aircraft seats up to 78 passengers and is operated by a two-pilot crew.
Bisnis.com also report that Garuda Indonesia has taken delivery of 20 new aircraft during the first half of 2014 as part of the national carrier’s Quantum Leap program of product reorganization.
The new aircraft that have already joined the fleet include four Boeing 737-800NG, one Airbus 330-200, six CRJ -1000 NexGen, one Boeing 777-300ER and eight Airbus 320-200.
In the current year Garuda Indonesia and its subsidiary Citilink will bring 24 new aircraft to strengthen their armadas.
