Penelope Williams and Diana Von Cranach – considered in many circles to be culinary alchemists – continue to explore exciting new ground that comprises the Balinese culinary tradition

Penelope Williams

Penelope Williams s the founder of Bali Asli – a legendary monument to Balinese cuisine located near Amlapura in northeast Bali that seeks to be a positive force in the local community by presenting food harvested from adjoining farms and seas.

Authenticity is the central theme at Bali Asli where food is prepared in a traditional Balinese kitchen (paon) using wood-fired methods, mud brick stove and century-olds preparation methods.

Diana Von Cranach

Diana Von Cranach together with her Balinese husband Gusti, own and operated fthe our luxury Puri Ganesha Villas in Pemuteran North Bali.

Passionate about food, guests at the villas are treated to an introduction to Balinese and Indonesian cuisine, exploring the flavors, tastes, textures and cultural roots of the archipelago’s
food.

The Culinary Alchemist Tours

Limited to no more than 8 participants, Diana and Penelope will lead a private “foodies” tour to discover local ingredients, learn how to prepare different dishes and basic spice pastes at hands-on classes, feast on more unusual local dishes and still have plenty of time to relax and enjoy these two very different regions of Bali.

East Bali - The Culinary Heartland

Penelope’s comprehensive knowledge provides an insight into the myriad secrets of authentic Balinese cuisine. Take a step through the cultural looking glass with her to experience different facets of everyday village and traditional palace life in the peaceful foothills of Bali’s highest volcano, Mount Agung. Stay by the beach in unique wooden Indonesian houses and fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves.

Nature & History - North West Bali

Discover the old colonial capital of Singaraja, ancient temples, nearly forgotten crafts and hidden villages in the north with Diana. Travel with her to plantations and sample some of East Java to experience breath taking volcanic landscapes, picnic in coffee Indonesia’s other interesting cuisines.

Explore Menjangan Island, Bali’s most famous underwater paradise. Stay in laid-back luxury, beachfront villas with private pools at the Puri Ganesha.

Lasting 8 days and limited to 8 people, Diana and Penelope have created this transformational tour as the ultimate “foodies” private tour.

The cost of the tour is US$6,210 for two people based on twin sharing of accommodation. Price includes all transfers & transport, accommodation, meals, hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages where specified, cookery classes, excursions, tax & service charges and recipe books.

Single rates are available on application.
