Bali Post reports that a 25-year-old Norwegian tourist, Anita Kvernrod Sletold, became the victim of a purse-snatcher on Jalan Double Six in Kuta on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 9:30 pm.
In the theft, two men on a motorbike made off with the woman’s cell phone, a sumof cash and important documents. Total value of Sletold’s loss was put at Rp. 9 million (US$780), according to police reports.
The men had apparently been trailing the Norwegian woman when they grabbed her bag and made off at a high rate of speed. Trying in vain to hold on to her belongings, the woman screamed for help as the men sped off.
Efforts by locals responding to the woman’s call for help, failed to capture the thieves..
Sletold was staying at a villa in Seminyak at the time of the theft.
The case remains under investigation by the Kuta Police Precinct.
