Bali is Home for the Holidays

Bali Chapter of Indonesian Hotel & Restaurant Association Predicting 80% Average Occupancy over the Year-End Holidays

(11/15/2013) The Bali Chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) is projecting that hotel occupancies on the Island will hit 80% during the Christmas and New Year Holiday period.

As reported by the State News Agency Antara, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace), said current requests for year-end bookings are strong that will combine with a number of international events scheduled for Bali at the end of the year.

Cok Ace is the Bali chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Associaiton (PHRI-Bali).

“We are holding with projections of 80% average occupancy as there will be hotels running at 100% while others will have 60% occupancy,” explained Cok Ace.

He said that hotels in the Kuta area are generally most popular during the year-end holiday period, popular with both domestic and international tourists.

Saying that “tourism feeds tourism,” Cok Ace the intense popularity of Kuta and its crowded conditions at the end of the year make it “the place” many visitors want to stay.

Admitting that traffic congestion is a natural consequence of Kuta’s popularity as a holiday destination, he said efforts are underway to overcome these problems.

Balidiscovery.com is predicting that Bali will end 2013 with 3.25 million foreign visitors, a number far in excess of official provincial projections of 2.892 million.

When combined with domestic visitors the projection for total tourist visitors for the entire year of 2013 will surpass 7 million.
