Airbus as a School Bus

Lion Air Buys Aviation Training Expertise from Airbus Industries

(3/29/2014) Lion Air has signed an agreement with Airbus Industries to provide pilot training in Indonesia at their Angkasa Aviation Academy.

Rusdi Kirana, CEO of the Lion Group, told Nusa Bali, “The decision to work together with Airbus for the provision of flight training shows that the Lion Group and Angkasa Aviation Academy is making large investments in education and bringing international standard training to Indonesia.”

The training provided by Airbus will conform to the high standards of Airbus and the European Air Safety Association (EASA).

The agreement with Airbus provides for the creations of a complete training syllabus, training materials and documentation, and the placement of training personnel in the Airbus A320 simulator at Angkasa Aviation Academy.

Lion Air has ordered four A320 flight simulators for placement at the Indonesian flight academy with the first unit set to arrive in April.

Lion Air and its subsidiary airline Batik Air remains since 2007 on the European Union’s blacklist of airlines deemed “unsafe” to operate in European airspace.
