Month-Long Celebration of the Arts in Bali

39th Bali Arts Festival Starts on Saturday, June 10, 2017

(5/14/2017) The Bali Arts Festival returns for its 39th annual month-long run starting on June 10, 2017.

Timed each year to coincide with school holidays, the “Pesta Kesenian Bali” is a month-long presentation of music, dance, drama and cultural presentation centered primarily at the Bali Arts Center in downtown Denpasar.

Saying, “We are preparing a big surprise for those who come to Bali,” the head of the provincial tourism office A.A. Gede Agung Yuniartha, promised a wide array of cultural performances and traditional rituals seldom encountered by Island visitors.

Among those on tap, according to The Jakarta Globe, are village dances, such as the Ngusaba Guling ritual from Timbrah Village in Karangasem that is expected to see hundreds of roast suckling pigs on display for the culinary enjoyment of festival visitors.

And, as in years past, foreign artists and performers from other parts of Indonesia will travel to Bali.

The Bali Arts Festival will start on Saturday, June 10, 2017, with a massive parade in Renon, Denpasar Bali. President Joko Widodo is expected to preside at the opening parade marking the start of the Festival.
