Sporting a New Apron

Work Starts on the Enlargement of the Parking Apron for Aircraft at Baliís Ngurah Rai Airport

(2/11/2018) Work on the enlargement of the apron area at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport has formally commenced.

When completed, the enlarged apron will stand on reclaimed land covering 48 hectares of ocean surface and be sufficient to accommodate parking for 10 aircraft.
The total cost of the project is put at Rp. 1.7 trillion.
NusaBali reports that the reclaimed apron area located on the western end of the runway in Bali is now officially under construction.
The airport’s management says the new apron over reclaimed land is targeted for completion in August 2018, in advance of the October International Monetary Fund-World Bank Summit set for Bali.

Work is also being done on increasing apron space on the eastern end of the runway and the creation of a VVIP terminal at the eastern end of the current airport. The two additional projects are still in the planning and bidding stage.
