Bali Races to Complete Infrastructure Projects

Bali’s Airport, Underpass and Toll Way Promised to Operated in June 2013 – Well in Advance of APEC Conference

(3/10/2013) Beritabali.com reports that Bali new over-the-waterway toll way between Benoa and Nusa Dua, the renovated Ngurah Rai International Airport and the underpass at the Dewa Ruci Statue will all be ready for use in June 2013.

The chairman of Commission III of the Bali House of Representatives, Gusti Made Suryanta Putra, said on Saturday, March 9, 2013: “These three project will hopefully be completed in June 2013, based on information we have received from the respective project leaders and related agencies when we met them at the Governor’s office last Friday (March 8th).”

The toll way over the waterway between Benoa and Nusa Dua is now 83 percent complete and has been confirmed to be ready for trial operations in June 2013.

Meanwhile the underpass project at the Dewa Ruci Monument is said to now be 87.5% complete. “For the underpass, we have already passed the 38 meter mark north to south. It is now in the process of constructing the walls, affixing Balinese ornamentation, installing pumps and preparing lighting,” said Putra.

The enlargement and improvement of the Ngurah Rai International Airport the project has achieve 61.03 completion, 1.89% behind its announced schedule. Delays at the airport are being blamed on the weather, with rains slowing progress on finishing the airport’s roof.

All parties remain optimistic that all three projects will be up and running in time for the APEC Economic Summit in September 2013.
