Bali Developing as Eastern Hub for Garuda Indonesia

Garuda Indonesia Opens Bali Crew Center

(5/12/2013) Garuda Indonesia has opened a crew center in Denpasar, Bali as part of the operation of Denpasar as an international hub for the national flag carrier.

The CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar, told Bisnis.com that the crew center has been established as a base for crew preparing themselves for their next flight. At the Center, crew can check flight assignments, get flight briefings, and prepare flight documentation.

Satar said the Denpasar facility is the first crew center located outside of Jakarta and is located in a shopping center some 15 minutes away from the Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Speaking to the press, Satar said: “At this time, Garuda Indonesia have placed 170 cabin crew in Bali, a number that will become 300 cabin crew by the end of this year. The basing of cabin crew in Bali will reach 500 personnel by 2015 to keep up with flight frequencies to and from Bali.”

The crew center covers an area of 611.3 square meters and includes a reception area, a crew dispatch center, briefing room, meeting room, cabin crew luggage room and a crew transport room.

Garuda also has future plans to open additional crew centers in Makassar and Medan.

The Garuda Indonesia hub in Denpasar, Bali services flights to Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and a number of domestic destinations.
