A Face Lift at Forty

Sanur Beach’s Iconic Bali Hyatt to Close for Two Years of Renovations Before Opening Again in Late 2015 as the Hyatt Regency Bali.

(8/19/2013) Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and PT. Wynncor Bali, owners of Bali Hyatt, have announced that the iconic Bali Hyatt will close its doors on November 14, 2013 for two years as the Sanur resort undergoes an extensive renovation.

When completed the Hotel will re-open in late 2015 as the Hyatt Regency Bali.

The date of the temporary closure marks 40-years to the day when the Bali Hyatt first opened its doors on November 14, 1973. Conscious of its heritage, the renovation program will retain many of the hotel’s traditional design features, while at the same time introducing significant enhancements to the overall guest experience.

Tokyo-based interior designers SPIN will incorporate authentic Balinese features throughout the Hyatt Regency Bali.

“Bali Hyatt will celebrate forty years in November, and the hotel has truly stood the test of time. It is imperative that we continue to offer a strong, locally focused experience, while catering to the growing preferences of our loyal leisure and business guests,” said Pete Sears, senior vice president of operations, Asia Pacific, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.  “Located in a traditional and tranquil resort area, Sanur remains a sought-after destination. We look forward to working closely with PT. Wynncor Bali to provide the Hyatt Regency Bali with a fresh look to complement the seamless service and top quality for which the hotel is known.”

Hyatt Regency Bali is expected to reopen in the last quarter of 2015, with reservation options resuming from mid-year 2015 onwards.

The renovation program will focus on the guestrooms, public areas, dining and meeting facilities, as well as the popular garden areas of the property.
