Château Belgrave Wine Experience

Outstanding Wine from Château Belgrave and the Food of Maurizio Bombini at Bulgari Resort Bali, Tuesday, November 19, 2013

(11/11/2013) Bali’s luxurious Bulgari Resort will feature a seasonal six-course seasonal degustation menu fashioned by their executive sous chef Maurizio Bombini in concert with rare wines from Château Belgrave on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

Presented in Bulgari’s Il Ristorante, the distinguished Château Belgrave wine collection will be presented by Antoine Huray, the ambassador of the Haut-Médoc winery.

Château Belgrave

One of the oldest wines in the Médoc, Château Belgrave is situated in Saint-Laurent and separated from the bordering Saint-Julien appellation by on a small stream.

In 1855 it was classified as a 5th growth (Cinquièmes grands crus classés) because of the exceptional quality of the area's deep gravel soils.

The soils at Château Belgrave show remarkable diversity. The two hillocks, which rise to 23 and 26 meters, are made up of gravel and pebbles washed in thousands of years ago by the Garonne River. This type of soil is favorable to late-ripening grape varieties such as Cabernet and Petit-Verdot, which now cover 3% of the surface area following restructuring of the vineyard.

There is less gravel towards the foot of the hillocks. At the base, the soil is a mixture of gravel and sand, which acts as an efficient filter, and clay outcrops, which are particularly adapted to the cultivation of Merlot.

Strictly limited in terms of number of participants, the evening begins with cocktails at 6:30 pm followed by dinner at 7:00 pm.
