Garuda Goes East

Garuda Starts Services from Bali to Komodo, Flores and Sumba in December 2013

(11/1/2013) Garuda Indonesia will open new flight services to eastern Indonesia with flights from Bali to Labuan Bajo (Komodo/West Flores), Ende (Flores) and Tambolaka (Sumba) starting before the end of 2013.

The vice-president of regional domestic services for Bali and Nusa Tenggara for Garuda Indonesia, Ari Suyanta, said, “In the beginning of December 2013 we will undertake our inaugural flights form Ngurah Rai International Airport to the Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo and Ende (Flores) round trip every day.”

Speaking to the State News Agency Antara, Suyanta said the potential of the local markets in these destinations is high. He also said that Manggarai Barat in West Flores is home to a rich array of exotic tourism attractions, including the Komodo National Park, limestone caves and many other interesting objects that will serve as a draw to international visitors.

Suyanta said: “In pace with the growing potential of these destinations, we (Garuda) will provide a higher quality standard of service in comparison with other carriers operating these routes.”

He said Garuda Indonesia would operate ATR-70/600 aircraft on these new routes starting from December 3, 2013.
