A Final Swim in Bali
Elderly American Tourist Dies While Swimming off Nusa Dua, Bali
Balipost.com reports that an American tourist, Arnold J. Bucciarllei (76) died while swimming offshore from the Hotel Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua.
Prior to his death, Bucciarllei was staying at the Hotel Vidi Taman Griya in Jimbaran. Mid-day on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, he traveled to Nusa Dua in the company of a guide, Edi Santoso (34), arriving at 3:00 pm when the men began to swim.
15 minutes into the swim, Santoso heard the shouting of visitors on the beach, pointing to a man floating in the water. He later learned that the man floating motionless in the water was the American, Bucciarllei. With the help of other swimmers, Santoso towed the American’s body to the shore where an ambulance from BIMC Nusa Dua arrived a few minutes later.
Efforts to revive the man at the hospital were unsuccessful where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving in the emergency room.
Pending results of a forensic examination, police are presuming that Bucciarlle died of either a heart attack or drowning.
