Indonesian President Joko Widodo is scheduled to officially inaugurate the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue (GWK) on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Balipost.com confirmed the Indonesian President would travel to Bali to officially open the monument and also announced that GWK has been chosen as the venue for the Host Country Welcoming Reception for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) World Bank Annual Conference in October 2018.
The Indonesian President will also return to GWK to be on hand to meet the thousands of delegates expected to attend the IMF-World Bank Conference. The head of the Conference Organizing Committee, Peter Jacobs, said on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 that the Lotus Pond adjacent to the GWK Monument will be reserved for VVIP, including the Indonesian President, attending the reception scheduled for October 12, 2018.
In a separate area next to the monument, a cocktail reception will be organized to handle a guest list of 4,000. Jacobs said the reception and the monument will be the ideal place to showcase Indonesia’s rich culture and culinary traditions to financial leaders from around the world.
