American Business Leaders Gather at IMF-World Bank Conference in Bali
American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia Hosts IMF-World Bank Gala with Indonesian Vice-President as Guest of Honor
On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (AMCHAM) co-hosted with its partners at a Business Round Table and Gala Dinner on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Conference in Bali.
The Gala Dinner held at the Ayodya Bali Resort’s Grand Ballroom was filled to capacity to hear keynote speakers Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, and BKPM Chairman Tom Lembong.
The packed audience also included top US and Indonesian business executives, and senior government officials from finance, Bank Indonesia, the maritime sector, and numerous other ministries. US Ambassador to Indonesia Joseph Donovan represented the US government at the event.
Also speaking at the dinner was AmCham President Brian Arnold.
Lin Neumann, managing director of AmCham Indonesia, said: “We wish to thank our partners for the event, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, US-Indonesia Society, American Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and US-ASEAN Business Council. It was the first time the five organizations worked together on a common project.”

A private Business Round Table that preceded the gala dinner featured Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Bisnar Panjaitan and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani together with their key advisors. During the Round Table Discussion, the ministers took questions from the floor and briefed companies on the Indonesian economy.
Later, during the Gala Dinner, Vice President Jusuf Kalla spoke of the Country’s openness for investment while thanking the private sector for responding quickly and generously to the earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi on September 28. Chairman Lembong also spoke about disaster relief and the country’s partnership with US investors.
