An Evolution to Darwin
Indonesian Counsel in Darwin, Australia Lobbies for Direct Flights between Darwin and Bali
As reported by Beritabali.com, the Counsel for Indonesia in Darwin, Australia, Dicky D. Soerjanatamihardja, says he hopes direct flight connections between Darwin and Denpasar can be resumed in the near future.
According to Dicky, Bali remains the most preferred tourist destination for Australians and he is seeking the support of Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster to help resume air links.
In the past, Denpasar and Darwin enjoyed direct flight connections, but is now without such air connections. The Indonesian counsel in Bali told Bali’s Governor that Australians to a considerable degree consider Bali their second home.
Bali and Australia’s Northern Territory pursue cooperation on a number of levels, including health and tourism.
In response, Governor Wayan Koster promised to bring the discussion of how to resume flight service to Darwin with the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Transportation.
In addition to tourism cooperation, Bali and the Northern Territory has a long-standing cooperation in health. The Royal Darwin Hospital provides training support to Bali’s Sanglah General Hospital and newly-opened Bali Mandara General Hospital.
