Bali Je T’aime

Classical Piano and Cello Performance by Yohanes Siem and Hee Young Lim at Padma Resort Legian-Bali on Saturday, May 5, 2018
In a continuing commitment to the promotion of classical and serious musical performance in Bali, the Padma Resort in Legian presents “One Romantic Classical Music Evening: Bali Je T’aime” on Saturday, May 5, 2018.

Pursuing a French theme for the evening, two talented classical musical artists, Hee Young Lim on Cello and Yohanes Siem on Piano, will present a program of music certain to delight their Bali audience.

Hee Young Lim – Cello

South Korean cellist Hee Young Lim won her first performance competition at only the age of 11 that launched an international career filled with honors and accolade. Known for creating a captivating “singing tone” from her instrument and her near-flawless technique, Kim has earned praise from the Washington Post.

Appointed as the principal solo cellist for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Kim is the first female Asian cellist to hold such a position in a major European orchestra.

Acknowledged as a music educator, Kim has conducted master classers in South Korea, Beijing, Paris and Jakarta.

Active in her work on behalf of differently-abled or autistic children, she has raised funds for the Benares School Foundation in Netherlands and India.

She plays a 1714 Joseph Filius Andrea Guarneri Cello that was graciously given by a private donor and Dominique Peccatte bow.

Yohanes Siem - Piano

Performing on the piano in Bali is the 35-year-old Indonesian pianist Yohanes Siem who has attained worldwide recognition following performances in China, Thailand, The Netherlands, and Germany. Siem has won a number of competitions and scholarships from leading international schools of music.

Born in Bandung, West Java, Yohanes is a graduate of the Price Claus Music Conservatory in Groingen, Holland. In 2009, he won the Yamaha Scholarship Award in Asia.

Yohanes teaches and performs in the region and has served on the jury of international piano competitions
