Bali Organizing to Attract More Meetings and Conventions

Bali Announces Plans to Create a Bali Convention & Exhibition Bureau

TTG.com reports that the Provincial Administration of Bali has joined forces with several private companies in Bali to establish The Bali Convention & Exhibition Bureau (BaliCEB).

The BaliCEB is proposed to work as a non-profit organization dedicated to promote the Island as a destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and place bids for large-scale international events to be held in Bali.

Reports state 50 companies have signed up to become members of BaliCEB, including many of the Island’s main conference hotels and venues.

One of eight founders of BaliCEB, I Ketut Jaman, told TTG that BaliCEB was formed to reflect the belief that Bali has strong potential as a world-class MICE destination and addresses on ongoing lack of an independent organization dedicated to act in the capacity of a conference and convention bureau.

The group plans to undertake promotional activities by attending MICE tradeshows internationally in 2020.

BaliCEB will generate an inventory of convention centers, hotels with MICE facilities, and a listing of MICE players –including Destination Management Companies (DMC) and Professional Conference Operators (PCO). The new agency will also create an official website and guide book for the MICE sector.

The BaliCEB will establish a professional team to bid on major international events starting in 2021.

Funding for the group’s activities will come, in part, from the Central and Provincial Governments, supplemented by contributions from the private sector. The commitment of funds from the Ministry of Tourism remains, at this stage, in the conceptualization phase, with no formal commitment of funding in hand.
