Bali’s Wise Man of Wine Says Farewell

Kayuputi Restaurant Manager and Chief Sommelier at The St. Regis Bali Resort Harald Wiesmann Returns to Germany After More than 10 Years in Paradise
Harald Wiesmann, one of Bali’s most remarkable food and beverage professionals, is leaving the Island to return to Germany with his wife and two young sons. The Restaurant Manager and Chief Sommelier at The St. Regis Bali Resort’s Kayuputi Restaurant, Harald held reign for more than a decade that saw the Kayuputi win prestigious awards from, among others, Wine Spectator Magazine, Trip Advisor and The Asian Gourmet Summit.


With over four decades of kitchen and dining room experience that commenced in a family owned hotel in Germany and a professional education in hospitality in Berlin, Harald is first and foremost passionate about wine. Over the years, he has presided over some of Bali’s most noteworthy wine dinners that were invariably positively embellished by Harold tasting notes and “love poems” written to the wines served.

Weismann’s knowledge of wine is encyclopedic, generously shared with those privileged to dine in the Kayuputi or read his regular columns on wine published in leading culinary journals.
 
Prior to joining The St. Regis Resort Bali, Harald worked in Ubud at the Mozaic Restaurant Gastronomique and The Viceroy’s CasCade’s Restaurant
