New Daily Train Service between Banyuwangi and Cilicap Enjoying Strong Tourist Demand reports that the Wijaya Kusuma Train Service connecting Banyuwangi and Cilicap launched on September 1, 2018 is growing increasingly popular for touristic travelers.

The Corporate Deputy-Director of Passenger Transport Marketing and Sales for PT Kereta Api, Mukti Jauhari confirmed the strong passenger growth in tourism passengers totals at a press conference on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.  Mukti stated that although only in operation for two months, the load levels that includes people who embark and disembark at intermediate stops between Cilicap and Banyuwangi has reached 180%.  Most of the tourists bound for Banyuwangi are traveling from Yogyakarta, Solo and Madiun. Tourists boarding in Cilicap tend to disembark in Surabaya. Mukti said that passengers who get off the train in Probolinggo are foreign visitors bound for Mount Bromo with many foreign tourists also using the train to visit the Ijen Volcano by disembarking in Banyuwangi.

The Wijaya Kusuma Train from Banyuwangi to Cilacap and return is comprised of four executive cars with 200 seats and three premium cars carrying 192 seats.

The train leaves Banyuwangi Station at 11:05 am arriving in Cilicap at 4:42 am the next morning. The return trip from Cilicap leaves at 2:10 pm arriving at 7:02 am the next morning in Banyuwangi.

For tourists traveling from Jakarta, Mukti recommends passengers travel from Jakarta to Yogyakarta where they can transit to the Wijaya Kusuma Train traveling to Banyuwangi. Travelers coming from Bandung in West Java can transit onto the Wijaya Kusuma at Solo.

The Wijaya Kusuma Train Service was commenced at the request of government officials in Banyuwangi.

Officials are very pleased with the public response to the new service.
