Boeing 737 – MAX 8 Under Scrutiny in Indonesia

Government Order Safety Audit of all Boeing 737 MAX 8 Flown by Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air

Balipost.com reports that the Ministry of Transportation has ordered urgent safety inspections to certify the airworthiness of all Boeing 737-Max8 aircraft operated by PT Garuda Indonesia and PT Lion Air.    

The inspections were ordered following the air crash of a  Boeing 737- Max 9 with the registration PK-LQP on Monday, October 29, 2018, that claimed 189 passengers and crew.

Currently, Lion Air operates 11 Boeing 737 MAX 8 while Garuda Indonesia operate one of this particular type of aircraft.                  

The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, after visiting the air crash recovery zone of flight JT 610 in the company of President Joko Widodo, said all date and information would be handed to the National Air Safety Board (KNKT) who are investigating the fatal crash.
