103 Chinese Cyber Criminal Flown Back in Handcuffs to PRC on Special Charter Flights

103 Chinese nationals arrested in three locations in Bali on May 1, 2018, in connection with cybercrime activities were deported on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.  

NusaBali said the 103 Mainland Chinese were held by police for more than one month at police headquarters before being transported en masse by bus to Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport where, under police guard and handcuffed, they were placed on two chartered aircraft to carry them to Sanya Phoenix International Airport in Hainan Province, China.

The cyber criminals were flow out on two Airbus A320 aircraft accompanied by 109 People Republic of China police personnel. The two planes left at 2:31 and 2: 48 pm local time.

The head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration office and the deputy head of the Bali Police said the 103 Chinese were found to be involved in cyber crime and had overstayed their tourist visas by more than 36 days at the time of their arrest. A decision was made not to criminally prosecute the group but simply to deport them and allow the Chinese criminal justice system to deal with crimes that include blackmail and extortion over the Internet.

Meanwhile, the 11 Indonesian nationals arrested with the large group of Chinese cyber criminals were held as witnesses and had little knowledge or involvement in the crimes being committed by the group of Chinese tourists.
