Drowning, Not the Cause of Death

German Tourist, Renate Simone Steglich, Dies Following a Scuba Diving Outing at Nusa Penida

A 52-year-old German Tourist, Renate Simone Steglich, has died while diving at Mantra Point on Nusa Penida Island. Klungkung Regency, on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

As reported by NusaBali, the German woman who was staying at the Candi Dasa Beach Resort in Candidasa, had traveled with a group of 6 friends to dive at the popular Mantra Point Site. Shortly after 10:00 am the group desceneded to a depth of 15-meters.

10 minutes into the dive, Renate signaled a desire to ascend to the surface. Back on board the dive boat, the woman began vomiting, fell unconscious, and was administered CPR and emergency oxygen.

The diver was rushed to Klinik Penta Medika in Candi Dasa where medical personnel prononunced her dead.  The body of the German tourist was removed to the Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar for forensic examination to determine the cause of death.
