Police Shoot Two Men Accused of Being Pickpockets in Kuta, Bali
Police from the Kuta Police Precinct shot two pickpockets caught preying on tourists visiting Bali.

As reported by Balipost.com and Kumparan.com, the men now under arrest are identified as Tommy Candra (38) and Alosiua Levde Bill (57) who were were shot in the legs by police in Kuta on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, allegedly when they resisted arrest.

The two suspects were caught trying to pickpocket a Taiwanese tourist, Dai Jia Yia (35), in front of Paddy’s Club on Jalan Legian in Kuta on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Police said the two pickpockets modus operandi was to gather round their intended victim, distract his attention, and relieve the tourist of his bag containing money, passport and credit cards.

The two thieves managed to take the belongings of Dai, including AU$1,000.

The tourist immediately reported the theft to Kuta Police who caught the pickpockets at 3:00 am on Jalan Legian. 

The two men later reported to police that they robbed victims in Kuta of their belongings on at least 10 occasions.
