Guard at Bali Kerobokan Prison Facing 20 Years in Prison
One of the guards at Bali’s notorious Kerobokan Prison could be facing 20 years in prison for dealing narcotics from the penitentiary.
Fidel Ramos Sipayung (27) stands accused before the Denpasar District Court for using his position to deal drugs at the prison.
As reported by NusaBali, State Prosecutors on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, told the judged how, based on information provided by the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNNP), he was caught with Class I narcotics in his possession. BNNP officials contend that Sipayung was involved in a regular trade in narcotics involving prisoners under his guard.
Based on information supplied by the BNNP, Sipayung was arrested in uniform outside the prison gate on Monday, February 12, 2018, with 44 grams of methamphetamines in his possession.
During police interrogation, Fidel admitted that he was delivering the drugs to a contact waiting outside the prison. Based on this information, police were able to arrest I Komang Amerta Yasa and I Gusti Agung Bagus Kamesuara who are standing trial separately.
Yasa and Mamesuara were captured with 77 ecstasy tablets weighing 23.26 grams in their possession.
The trial of Fidel Ramos Sipayung continues in the Denpasar District Court.
