Hand in Hand for Lombok

Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali and Elizabeth International School Host Charity Concert for Earthquake Victims

Reflecting a commitment to give back to the community and provide vital aid to the victims of the recent Lombok earthquakes, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali hosted a charity event on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

The charity event seved as a follow-up to the immediate response of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali that dispatched a team of employees to Lombok on August 10, 2018, in the aftermath of the first earthquake to strike the Island on July30, 2018,  to deliver urgently needed supplies and medication.

The September 16thVoice of Lombok Charity Concert” was a joint collaboration with Elizabeth International School in order to assist the many victims of the Lombok earthquake. More than 200 people gathered in the Resort’s Akasa Ballroom for an evening of music presented by renowned Indonesian singing diva Titi -  DJ. She was joined on stage by a number of leading Indonesian musicians, including acclaimed Balinese flute player Gus Teja.

Co-founder of the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, Astrid Sulaiman also performed tpgether with her Jazz Quartet. Adding to the list of top name talent were the local band GlamBeer, as well as Just One Tea who travelled from Lombok especially for the event.

Almost Rp 200 million was raised via ticket sales and direct donations.

“I am overwhelmed by the sheer level of support shown to this worthy cause. Although there were many hands involved, it was essentially a community-driven effort. This charity event is part of a more long-term undertaking to help the people of Lombok as they slowly recover and rebuild their lives,” said Horst Walther-Jones, general manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali.

Elizabeth International Hotel Management School, a respected hotel school, joined the Resort in managing and presenting the charity event.
