Claude Debussy

Together with Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy’s compositions remain popular to this day as exemplars of the impressionistic school of composition. One of the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Debussy was an iconoclast in his approach to scales and tonalities. At the Paris International Exhibition of 1889, Debussy heard a Javanese gamelan causing him to incorporate the pentatonic scale into some of his piano compositions, such as Pagodes.

Olivier Moulin’s recital “Debussy, Between East and West” will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Padma Legian Resort on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7:30 pm.

Supported by the Institut Francais and Alliance Francaise, admission is only Rp. 100,000 per person.
