Italian Tourist Drowns at Nusa Penida, Bali

45 Year Old Italian Succumbs to Large Wave and Heavy Currents at Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida

An Italian tourist, Andrea Massari (45), died on Thursday, April 18, 2019, after being caught in the strong currents of Crystal Bay at Nusa Penida Island, just off Bai’s eastern coast

As reported by Denpost.com, the Italian who was staying at the Merta Sari Bungalow on Nusa Penida, was rushed from the sea to the Pratama Hospital where he was pronounced dead-on-arrival.

The drowning incident happened at 1:40 pm where Massari had been swimming with his female companion, Morkeviciute Valdemara (32), since 9:00 am.

After having lunch, the Massari returned to swimming in Crystal Bay when a large wave swept through the Bay bringing with it a strong current. Massari disappeared from view while two other tourists used a canoe to reach the man floundering in the strong current.
