Let There be Light in Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua Light Festival at IRDC Through July 15, 2018

CNN Indonesia reports that The Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) – the State-owned company that manages the Nusa Dua Complex in South Bali in cooperation with Taman Pelangi is hosting the Nusa Dua Light Festival 2018 (NDLF-2018) June 11- July 15, 2018.

This will be the third edition of the popular Nusa Dua Light Festival that is expected to draw thousands of visitors to Nusa Dua.

I Wayan Karioka, the managing director of Nusa Dua-ITDC, said on Thursday, June 7, 2018, the event is the only light festival in Bali and will be held on the peninsula – an open-air park located within the ITDC.

Karioka continued, saying, the Nusa Dua Light Festival 2018 will adopt the theme of “underwater light” with the tagline “Water, Fire and Dance.”

“This theme was taken because we will install natural appearing lighting under the ocean’s surface creating a ‘dancing fountain” to add to the merriment of the Nusa Dua Light Festival,” he said.

The ‘Spectacular Dancing Fountain” will cover a total area of 20 x 20 meters with colored lighting and fountains gyrating to the sound of amplified music.

Supplementing past performances of the dancing fountain at the Nusa Dua Light Festival in 2018 will be the addition of fire effects that will ignite and extinguish in keeping with the musical background.

Karioka said the ITDC hopes to entertain families visiting Bali for the peak season Lebaran holidays.

During the 35-day-long festival ITDC is targeting to attract 2,500-3,000 domestic and international visitors to Nusa Dua on a daily basis.
