Sakura Tea Ceremony and Sumo Wrestling Event at Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach on June 10, 2018
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Japan and Indonesia diplomatic relations, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach will host a friendly sumo game and tea ceremony in Tanjung Benoa on Sunday, June 10, 2018.

The event will be organized by Project Sakura 60 of Yayasan Persahabatan Jepang Bali (Japan Bali Friendship Foundation). The Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach will host two programs on the Sunday gathering that will showcase Japanese traditional culture with a friendly sumo game and the traditional tea ceremony.

"Being a Japanese brand, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach is proud to play its part in supporting Project Sakura 60's program and showcase the Japanese culture," said Jean-Charles Le Coz, general manager of Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach, "This fits into our mission, to bring a harmonious blend of cultures and traditions of both Bali and Japan to our guests."


The program will start with a traditional Japanese tea ceremony presented in the Samudera Lounge by the renowned tea master, Shusaku Yasumaru. This will be followed with a friendly sumo game held on the Resort’s beachfront performed by a sumo training houses or heya specially flown into Bali for the program.

"This will represent the first time professional sumo fighters have displayed their skills in Bali. "Project Sakura 60 is a celebration of the diplomatic relations between both countries, and we have organized several events throughout 2018 to commemorate this," explained Makiko Iskandar, Chairman of Project Sakura 60. Adding: "This will be our second program following a previous event that showcased a fashion show with traditional clothing from Japan and Indonesia, and a soprano singer from Japan."
