Plans Underway to Change the Names of Bali Mandira Toll
Bali Toll Road Soon to be Called I Gusti Ngurah Rai Tol?
Plans are afoot to change the name of the Bali Mandira Toll Road to become “Toll I Gusti Ngurah Rai.”
The management of PT Jasamarga Bali Tol (JBT) spoke to Bertiabali.com to explain the proposed name change. The CEO of JBT, Enkky Sasono, said the current name of Bali Mandira Tol was announced during the administration of Governor Made Mangku Pastika.
The JBT executive said he has received no formal notification that the name of the road will be changed, but, at the same time, has heard from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing that a name change was in the planning stage. He added, “When and if that will happen, we must wait to find out.”
Enkky said matters related to changing the name of the toll road is 100% in the authority of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
Enkky said the suggestion to change the name of the roadway has come from Jakarta and not from Bali’s new governor. The desire, however, to adopt the name of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Tol does reflect a desire by the Province to honor a Balinese who died in the fight for Indonesian independence.
