Run, Cycle and Swim at the Bali Triathlon

Registration is now open for the 11th annual Herbalife Bali International Triathlon to be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018.

A permanent fixture on the Indonesian sporting calendar and historically the first triathlon held in Indonesia, the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon has been dubbed the “Triathlon for the Soul” for the way the event gives Balinese culture and traditions center stage.

Headquartered on Mertasari Beach in the traditional Balinese village of Sanur, the race is a continuing part of the Sanur Village Festival that celebrates heritage, culture, and athleticism.

In 2017 the Bali International Triathlon was crowned the “Best Triathlon Course in Asia” by www.asiatri.com.

In naming the Herbalife Bali Triathlon Run Coursethe best” in 2017, AsiaTRI praised the new Sanur-based course for its long loop in both the Sprint and Olympic Distance events run over a flat surface through the village of Sanur, and also praised the race's limited 200-meter beach segment.

Also lauded was the event's distinct Balinese flavor “by running past several local temples, beach and the local town, while enjoying a fast course.”

This year’s event will be the third running since the event was moved from Jimbaran and Nusa Dua, a moved well-received by all participants for the greater safety and greater flow of movement on a course that runs the length of Sanur and incorporates a portion of the Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai.

Some 2,000 athletes for 30 countries are expected to travel to Bali to participate in the Olympic distance, sprint distance and 5-km fun run divisions with the start and finish lines located at Mertasari Beach in Sanur, Bali. The first group undertaking a swimming start takes to the water shortly after 6:00 am on Sunday, October 21. 2018

And, as in year’s part, expect a strong turn out of past champions, and celebrity athletes form both Indonesia and abroad to make their way to Bali for this year’s triathlon.
