Local School Boy Falls to His Death from a Cliff at Nusa Penida

Denpost reports that following a four-day intensive search, the body of an Indonesian junior high school student, I Made Candra Udiana (18), was recovered by search and rescue workers on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the base of a 275-meter cliff-face at the Village of Batumadeg at Nusa Penida.

The boy was last seen standing on the edge of the cliff on mid-day Saturday, February 23, 2019. He was on a camping trip with friends and was looking for firewood when he slipped and fell to his death.

Shortly after falling from the cliff, his body was seen in the surrounding waters by his parents who summoned Search and Rescue Worker who commenced a search, including creating a winching system to raise and lower workers up and down the 275-meter distance to the waters below.

The boy’s body was found some 8-10 meters from the point he fell into the ocean. It took 2 hours to bring the schoolboy’s body back to shore.
