Bali Governor Convenes Unprecedented ‘Town Hall’ Meeting with Bali Tourism Industry

On Thursday, March 4, 2019, Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster stood before some 1,500 tourism stakeholders in Bali comprised of entrepreneurs, public figures, tourism practitioners, academicians, community leaders, and students of tourism academies at an event held at the Harris Sunset Hotel on Sunset Road in Kuta at an event titled “Gathering: Walk the Talk with Governor of Bali” with the sub-theme “Synergy and Harmony Under Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali” that roughly translated means: “safeguard Bali’s spiritual purity and natural harmony and all that entails.” The almost unprecedented tourism gathering was convened to foster cooperation on tourism matters between the public sector, private sector, and the general public.

As reported by Balipost.com, a universal plan that epitomizes “Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali” has been a top priority since the beginning of the administration of Governor Wayan Koster and Deputy Governor “Cok Ace” in 2018.

The governing concept of the campaign promotes the strengthening of Balinese cultural values and the embracing of local wisdom is part of a generalized viewpoint on how Bali should be governed, especially in areas related to tourism. For this reason, the Provincial Administration is in the process of developing a comprehensive plan for tourism development.

The tourism summit called by the Governor was done to discuss current tourism regulations and proposed new tourism regulations.  Koster said that the regulation of the tourism industry needs to contemplate the opinions and input of members of the tourism industry. Underlining that tourism permeates many sectors of Bali’s economy, the input of all sectors of Balinese society is needed to ensure smooth coordination and a “win-win” solution for the tourism, agricultural, industry, and resources sectors.
