Think Pink in the War on Breast Cancer

Bali Pink Ribbon Fun Walk & Run Returns Saturday, October 20, 2018
Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation (Yayasan Pita Merah Muda Bali) has announced the date for the annual charity Bali Pink Ribbon Fun Walk & Run on Saturday, October 20, 2018, to operate from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

As in years past, the event will be held in Nusa Dua at the Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). As well as raising funds for the many projects of the Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation (BPRF), the event also raises community awareness via educational and health screenings provided to underprivileged women in Bali and surrounding islands. The profits from this year’s walk will be used to establish a Rumah Singgah for breast cancer patients undergoing treatment in Denpasar.

For the past decade Bali Pink Ribbon has brought positive change for many women and families in Bali. Through media campaigns, organized screenings, and outreach programs the awareness of breast cancer has been enhanced in Bali and nearby islands.

The Bali Pink Ribbon Fun Walk and Run is held each October since 2009 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Set in the complex of the ITDC in Nusa Dua, registration opens at 2:00 pm with the actual walk starting at 4:00 pm. The route follows the manicured gardens of Nusa Dua and along the beach looping back to the main arena near The Bali Collection.

Comprised of a 5-kilometer fun walk and run, participants are encouraged to dress in pink. During the event, the roads of Nusa Dua will be flooded with people dressed in pink, pink balloons, and banners. Following the walk, pink ribbons will be hung on a memorial line in memory of those who have died of breast cancer.

There will be stalls selling food, drink and shops operating at the ITDC gardens, and a kids corner with entertainment and activities for children. There will also be a raffle, auction, and live music available until 9:00 pm.

Free breast screenings will be provided by a medical team from Prima Medika Hospital.

Participants from across Indonesia and foreign visitors are welcome to join the festivities with 1,500 expected to join the 2018 event.

Tickets are on sale from Rp 200,000 that covers participation, a t-shirt and finisher medals for runners.

Rp. 150,000 will cover the cost of just the run and t-shirt.
