Denpasar to be Scene of Royal Cremation on Wednesday, November 14, 2018
The Balinese Royal Household of Denpasar (Puri Agung Denpasar – Satria) is in mourning. The wife of Ida Tjokorda Ngurah Jambe Pemecutan - the 9th Raja of Denpasar, Dampati Ida Anak Agung Ayu Oka Pemucatan died on October 17, 2018.
As reported by Balipost.com, Ayu Oka was 74 years old at the time of her death.
The Royal Household is now engage in many elaborate preparations for the Royal Cremation (palebon) that is set for Wednesday, November 14, 2018. The first-born-son of Ayu Oka, Dr. A.A. Ngurah Agung Wira Bima Wikrama, told the press that his mother had suffered from diabetes and was hospitalized for three days prior to her death.
Dampati Ida Anak Agung Ayu Oka Pemucaton is survived by her husband the Raja, Ida Tjokorda Ngurah Jambe Pemecutan, five children, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
In anticipation of the coming cremation, Wira Bima Wikrama, on behalf of the Royal Household, asked the forgiveness of the people of Denpasar who will be inconvenienced by the closure of several main roadways during the funeral procession. In fact, one road, Jalan Kedondong has already been closed to be used for the construction of the funeral pyre and bade.
The elaborate funeral begins on Saturday, November 3, 2018, with joint offerings and bathing ceremony for the corpse. On Sunday, November 11, 2018, funeral rites continue is a series of rituals that seek the Almighty’s blessing on the proceedings to follow and the making of offerings to accompany the deceased’s soul to its next spiritual destination. On Wednesday, November 14th a large procession attended by thousands will accompany the deceased to the cremation (palebon) followed by the final commitment of the cremains to the ocean off Sanur Beach.
