Technical Director of Lion Air Suspended by Government Pending Results of JT-610 Air Crash Investigation
Kompas.com reports quoted the Minister for Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, who has announced the Technical Director of Lion Air and the technical staff supervising the ill-fated flight of Lion Air JT 610 from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang have been suspended from their positions.
The Technical Director of Lion Air is Muhammad Arif.
Minister Sumadi explained that Arif has been replaced as a consequence of the JT 610 air crash that killed 189 passengers and crew on Monday, October 29, 2018.
“Corporate sanctions will be announced once we have the results of the investigation underway by the National Air Safety Board (KNKT). But, today we are suspending the Technical Director of Lion Air,” explained Sumadi on Wednesday, October 31, 2018
The Minister explained that in addition to the Technical Director, all technical staff connected with the flight of JT610 have also been suspended from their positions.
The Minister confirmed that it remains within the Government’s authority to dismiss and replace the directors of any national airline. Kompas.com’s attempt to contact the Corporate Strategic Communication Officer of Lion Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, for comment were unsuccessful.
