Elections Commission Find 34 Foreign National Illegally Listed on Bali’s Voter Rolls
The names of at least 34 foreign nationals in Bali have been discovered on voter rolls in several regencies of Bali in a sweep by officials to prevent the illegal participation of foreign nationals in the coming presidential vote scheduled to take place on April 17, 2019.
NusaBali reports that most of the names of foreigners on voter rolls were found in Denpasar (16), Buleleng (8), Tabanan (6), Badung (1), Jembrana (1), Bangli (1), and Karangasem (1).
Election officials have quickly removed the 34 names from the voter rolls while rechecking voter registration list to ensure no additional foreign nationals remain to be found on the list of those eligible to cast a vote for president.
All the 34 names of foreign nationals found on voter rolls were among the 547 foreigners living in Bali holding electronic ID card (E-KTP).
It appears the 34 foreign nationals were issued E-KTPS and were somehow inadvertently and incorrectly placed on the voter rolls for the coming presidential vote.
