"Jack" Daniels is a well-known tourism personality in Bali, which he first visited in 1973. Originally from the United States, he is an honours graduate of Michigan State University and a Phi Beta Kappa key holder. He is a certified hotel administrator by examination from the American Hotel and Motel Association.

In a tourism career spanning 3 decades, Jack has worked in the airline, hotel and cruise industries before establishing Bali Discovery Tours.

Active in the local community, Jack writes the award-winning weekly e-mail magazine BALI UPDATE distributed to more than 15,000 readers worldwide – a publication that TIME MAGAZINE (ASIA – 09 October 2000) dubbed the "Ministry of Truth" for information on Bali.In 2002, the "Bali Update" received an award of Marketing Excellence from PATA Indonesian Chapter.

As the former Chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Bali and Nusa Tenggara Chapter, he has received a number of industry awards including being named Indonesian Travel Personality of the Year and Bali Travel Personality of the Year.

Twice recognized by the Indonesian Government for his contributions to national tourism, he has received from the President the ADIKARYA WISATA award and most recently the highest award in tourism from the Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
