Located in the mountainous hinterland of Tegallalang, north of Ubud, Pandawas Villas rests on 6,500 square meters of beautifully appointed landscape grounds surrounded by rice paddies, lush jungle and verdant river valleys.
The four-villas at the resort are named after the protagonists from the great Hindu chronicle, The Mahabhrata the epic story of Yudistra, Bima, Arjuna, and the twins Sahadewa and Nakula.
Upon entering the property through an ornately carved gate, one will immediately note the expansiveness of the space. Rolling lawns bordered with ponds, lagoons, and small gardens have retained the distinct hilly slopes of the orignal valley.
Only 2000 square meters were used for the living and common areas, with the remaining land reserved for open gardens. A main walkway leads to an open-air pavilion flanked by two lotus flower ponds, the ceiling of which depicts the Pandawas epic portrayed in traditional Balinese kamasan-style painting. A few steps away guarding the entrance to the villa property, are two monumental stone statues of the Elephant god, Ganesha.
Through the heavy wooden doors is another space named after Arjuna - the master archer. This grand 352-square meter area consists of a traditional open-air Balinese wantilan roof supported with modern columns. This massive common area may be used as s lounge, or for entertaining or dining,
As you walk through the room, the frangipani-lined deck and 25 x 12 infinity pool beyond it beckons one to investigate further. It edges the wilderness where diverse flora such as Arbesia, Wani, Teak and Durian trees create the jungly backdrop that integrates perfectly with the pool built from natural materials including lava and lime stone.
Bordering the infinity pool and situated on either side of the Arjuna common area are the villas named after Yudistra, Bima, Sahadewa and Nakula. Although all of the villas share a similar layout and are simply yet elegantly designed, they each bear a specific color motif giving each space a unique personality and feel.
Ubud While it's possible to visit Ubud in just a day, such a short trip would barely touch the surface of this extraordinary village. An interesting melange of rural Balinese life and modern services which co-exist here. Despite the fact that visitors may outnumber residents during peak periods, Ubud retains the atmosphere of a small country community and, in contrast to the hustle of Kuta, the pace of life is very relaxed. It's a great place to tour on foot or by bicycle and there's a wide range of facilities for tourists of all budgets, as well as beaches 10 km away. For those who enjoy being close to natural beauty, yet within easy reach of creature comforts, Ubud is ideal. Ubud is only 45 minutes from Denpasar Airport.
