Beritabali.com quotes Dwikorita Karnawati, the Chief of the Metereology, Climate, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), as saying that the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), which will be held in Bali from 18 to 24 2024, will attract between 30,000 and 50,000 global participants.
Continuing, Dwikorita said, “There will be 244 conference sessions attended by between 30,000 and 50,000 conference participants.” The BMKG CEO made these comments after attending a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the National Palace on Wednesday, 27 February 2024.
The BMKG boss is also responsible for the programs and conference sessions for the 10th WWF. Dwikorita told the press that the May conference will comprise three distinct processes addressing thematic, regional, and political matters.
As the event’s host, the organizers of the 10th WWF said that Indonesia is pushing for a joint ministerial declaration on water resources, climate, food, energy, and health.
Indonesia also seeks to establish a Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience. “After holding the 10th World Water Forum, Indonesia will coordinate a center of excellence. This will allow an alliance of existing centers in the Asia Pacific and other global locations to coordinate with Indonesia,” Dwikorita added.
The WWF is the largest international meeting involving various stakeholders in the water resources sector, including political leaders, governments, multilateral institutions, politicians, academics, civil society, and the business community.
The WWF is held once every three years.
The 10th WWF addresses six main sub-themes:
- water security and prosperity
- water for humanity and nature
- disaster risk reduction and management
- Governance
- Cooperation and Hydro-diplomacy
- Sustainable water finance; and knowledge and innovation.
